Writing and Reading
When I mentioned that I write a blog to someone recently they asked me: What kind of person writes a blog? And they didn’t mean this in a good way.
What kind of person asks a blogger what kind of person writes a blog? Let’s just say a ‘forthright’ person.
It is alleged that blogging is like poetry - more people writing than reading. That may be but here is a something that bloggers maybe haven’t told you: It is more fun to write than read.

Many published books have few readers. Older works and writers are soon forgotten and go ‘out of print’. Much print content is unmemorable. The same is true of digital content. There is just more of it as it is relatively easy and inexpensive to create and publish.
Some bloggers like some writers and poets have a wide readership like Boing Boing or Weblogg-Ed in Eductaion http://weblogg-ed.com/
I don’t keep a blog
but I read a bunch!
Hmm… I also read poetry. I’ve been to all the poetry bookstores in the US. Not a great feat, there’s only two.
Someone needs to sit in the audience, that’s me.
By the way, check out this survey by student at IADT. Sinéad is also trying to connect with people who *don’t* blog. Maybe pass the link (on paper) to your non-blogging buddy.
If you have a few minutes to spare, please take her survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=5ysxY7oTgWDQoBpeiB4djQ_3d_3d She has even organised a prize draw of a €50 voucher prize.

@heather james
Thanks for the comment. I guess that is the beauty of blogging: the readers are also writers
@Niall Watts Wow! I didn’t even think of it that way. I am having a vivid mental image of the library of all unread print books. There must be classics of fiction and scientific discoveries that would have changed the course of history.
