The world and his mother are talking about virtual worlds at the moment. I was at a talk where one unfortunate soul could not give his talk on Second Life because he could not access it through the college firewall. He had come all the way from the states. It said it all to many sceptical audience members. The very fact that SL needs its own plugin and some serious computing power says it all really. Google's Lively by contrast is easy to use and installs a cinch. I didn't have any complaints from firewalls and most importantly I didn't have to do a long tutorial once I logged in.
Today James commented on my delicous stream in Jaiku and turned me to a thing called Eduism - which despite its stupid name looks pretty cool:
